DANBURY RAILWAY MUSEUM and MTA |
PACKAGE INCLUDES: * Discount round-trip rail fare from your boarding station (save an additional 5 percent on rail fare when you purchase this package through WebTicket) PLUS * Discount general admission to the Museum: adults/kids over 12 years, $5; seniors, $4; children 2-12, $3; children under 2, free. Admission price is in addition to discounted rail fare. The Danbury Railway Museum is located in the historic 1903 train station and railroad yard in downtown Danbury, Connecticut. Founded in 1994, the Museum preserves, restores, and operates vintage New England railroad equipment. Get onboard the "Rail Yard Local" and be transported back in time to the early to mid-20th century, the golden age of railroading. This train ride will bring you past the Museum's ever-growing collection of historic rolling stock, including many rare diesel engines and one-of-a-kind pieces like the Boston and Maine Railroad's steam locomotive. The Museum also features the only operating turntable in Connecticut. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays; after Labor Day, the Museum closes at 4 p.m. The Rail Yard Local runs every hour, with the last train leaving the Museum at 3:45 p.m. (2:45 p.m. after Labor Day). (The ride takes approximately 25 minutes, and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.) Metro-North customers can purchase a discount ticket for the Rail Yard Local at the museum for $2. For more information about the Museum, call 203-778-8337; or visit www.danburyrail.org.
