The Wings of Freedom Tour will be at the Oxford Airport from September 5 to September 7, 2014 and arrive at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5th and depart on Sunday at 5 p.m.  The Tour brings historic aviation to your community.  Tour through the authentically restored aircraft or take a flight aboard for the ultimate immersion in history.  The B-17, B-24 and P-51 are on the 25th season of the Wings of Freedom Tour. Visitors are invited to explore the aircraft inside and out; $15 for adults and $6 for children under age 12.  WWII veterans can tour through the aircraft a no cost.  Call for further information.

Textiles join math and history in this exhibition. Artist Gail Rothschild charts the craftsmanship of each woven artifact in her Ancient Linen series, while simultaneously conveying their deterioration in the face of time. Cornell mathematician Daina Taimina marries art and science with crocheted sculptures of hyperbolic planes. Her work explores the 3-D world from a fourth dimension vantage point.

The xford Historical Society will open the Twitchell-Rowland Homestead Museum decorated for Christmas with scenes of Old St. Nick thoughout the 1755  saltbox and a large miniature holiday village featuring a working train, lamplit streets, and hundreds of buildings, animals and people.  Hours for the docent-led tours:  Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 2-4PM and again on January 5, 2014 from 2 to 4PM.  Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Learn how to ski jump.  SWSA invites area youngsters to learn how to "fly" over the Christmas holiday week.  SWSA will sponsor a two-day ski-jumping clinic for anyone age seven or older, on January 2nd and 3rd, 9AM - 3PM, at Satre Hill in Salisbury.  No ski jumping experience is required, and participants must bring their own downhill or cross-country skis, boots, and helmets.  Kids will get a feel for what ski jumping is all about, and get a chance to practice their new skills on the 20 meter beginner hill.  The $30 per-skier fee includes instruction in jumping basics, practice, some individual guidance, and lunch both days.  The clinic concludes with a mini tournament starting at 2 PM on Tuesday.  More information and to pre-register, contact Ken Barker ( or (860)806-0471.
