The public is invited to join us for the Friday night opening reception from 5 - 7:30 PM, on Saturday from 12 - 5PM and on Sunday from 11 - 4PM. The Exhibition is held on the beautiful Battell Stoeckel Estate in the Battell Stoeckel Gallery (the Art Barn) in Norfolk, CT. Follow the signs for location and parking. Lanford Wilson's FIFTH OF JULY opens Town Players' 80th anniversary season on Friday, April 24 at 8 PM at The Little Theatre.| Ken Talley, a Vietnam vet who lost his legs in combat, lives in his family's farmhouse in rural Missouri with his partner, Jed. The traumatized and bitter Ken finds it difficult to find meaning in his life. As he considers selling the house and property, old friends and family members descend for a visit. Ken's Aunt Sally and his sister June (and her daughter Shirley) have come to bury the ashes of Sally's husband. Friends John and Gwen Landis, along with Weston Hurley, have arrived with the intention of buying the Talley farmhouse so that Gwen, a copper heiress, can turn it into a recording studio and realize her dream of becoming a country music star. The visit ends with a bidding war over the property between Sally and John. FIFTH OF JULY is directed by Maureen Trotto and runs April 24 -May 16. The WCSU Department of Theatre Arts will present "The Cat in the Hat" in the MainStage Theatre of the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university's Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Performances will be at 10:30 a.m. (school matinees) on April 30 and May 1; 3 and 7 p.m. on May 2; 3 p.m. on May 3. The Sharon Historical Society is pleased to invite you to a new lecture series. Starting on May1st at 12:00 PM the SHS will feature a brown bag lunch lecture the first Friday of every month. This month, in celebration of May Day, a day set aside by the Society of American Archivists to learn about preservation and disaster preparedness, the lecture will be about Caring and Preserving Your Family's Papers. SHS Director Moira Conlan will talk about easy strategies for storage and guidelines to ensure that your family memories will be there for generations to come. Coffee and tea will be provided and attendees should feel free to bring their own lunch. Reservations are not required. This event is free.
