The Wings of Freedom Tour will be at the Oxford Airport from September 5 to September 7, 2014 and arrive at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5th and depart on Sunday at 5 p.m.  The Tour brings historic aviation to your community.  Tour through the authentically restored aircraft or take a flight aboard for the ultimate immersion in history.  The B-17, B-24 and P-51 are on the 25th season of the Wings of Freedom Tour. Visitors are invited to explore the aircraft inside and out; $15 for adults and $6 for children under age 12.  WWII veterans can tour through the aircraft a no cost.  Call for further information.

Litchfield Land Trust Offers Prospect Mountain/Mattatuck Trail Walk

On Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 10AM to 12PM  as part of the CT Trails Day the Litchfield Land Trust will offer a 2.5 mile hike including a moderately difficult ascent over occasionally rocky terrain to the summit of Prospect Mountain (1350Ft), winding past two abandoned mine shafts, topping an open ridge with distant views to the north, west and south to Connecticut's Mount Tom, then decending along a newly established loop trail back to the start.  Meet CFPA volunteer trail manager Richard Heys and co-leader Dave Geiger at the trailhead on Cathole Road (from Route 202, 1.9 miles west of the White Memorial Conservation Center entrance, go north on Cathole Road for 1.7 miles to the trailhead with limited parking on the left.  Heavy rain postpones to June 3 at 10AM.  Pre-registration is not necessary.  Call for further information.
