The Wings of Freedom Tour will be at the Oxford Airport from September 5 to September 7, 2014 and arrive at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5th and depart on Sunday at 5 p.m.  The Tour brings historic aviation to your community.  Tour through the authentically restored aircraft or take a flight aboard for the ultimate immersion in history.  The B-17, B-24 and P-51 are on the 25th season of the Wings of Freedom Tour. Visitors are invited to explore the aircraft inside and out; $15 for adults and $6 for children under age 12.  WWII veterans can tour through the aircraft a no cost.  Call for further information.

The Falls Village-Canaan Historical Society will present monthly lectures through September 2013 as part of its First Tuesdays @ 7 series.  This series presents lively history lectures by noted experts in various fields of interest on the first Tuesday of each month. On Tuesday, July 2 at 7pm, Donald K. Mayland, a retired Hotchkiss economics teacher and owner of Marine Study Program, Inc., will present "Diving Lakeville: It's the Pits," a lecture on local diving and the recovery of archaeological artifacts found in Lakeville's abandoned iron industry quarry pits. Mr. Mayland spent three years in the Navy before moving to the Northwest Corner in 1970.  He is known for his love of all things aquatic, and also taught scuba diving for years at Hotchkiss.  Don has conducted many archaeological dives including those in Lake George and Lake Champlain.  All lectures through September will take place at the South Canaan Meeting House.  Donations are welcome.
