on the Battell Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk. Norfolk August Arts Weekend Norfolk Artists & Friends will have its Seventh Annual August Arts Weekend on August 7 - 8 - 9. The public is invited to join us for the Friday night opening reception from 5 - 7:30 PM, on Saturday from 12 - 5PM and on Sunday from 11 - 4PM. The Exhibition is held on the beautiful Battell Stoeckel Estate in the Battell Stoeckel Gallery (the Art Barn) in Norfolk, CT. Follow the signs for location and parking. This year 20 artists will be represented in a variety of mediums: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, mixed media, print mediums, and fine jewelry.

Flanders offers Drawing People with Marc Chabot--Wednesdays, September - November | 7 - 9 PM--Every two weeks a new session will begin. Sign up for one or all five! Learn to draw faces and figures in graphite with inspiration from accomplished artist Marc Chabot. This two session class is packed with practical advice, helpful tips, and fundamental techniques essential to artists of all skill levels. Students will learn the processes of drawing the human head and clothed figure in a variety of poses. Marc will share his knowledge about underlying anatomy and natural variations in shape, texture, and proportion, as well as basic information about drawing tools and pencil techniques. Location: The Studio on the corner of Flanders and Church Hill Road   A few basic art supplies are needed for the class.Pre-registration is required. The show features over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits including “Peggy Sue”, “That’ll Be The Day”, “Oh Boy”,  “Everyday”, “Maybe Baby”, as well as Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba”, and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace”. The incredible legacy of the young man with glasses, whose musical career spanned an all-too-brief period during the golden days of rock ‘n’ roll, continues to live on in BUDDY.

Woodbury United Methodist Church - "Great Pumpkins" Fundraiser

One of the country's largest pumpkin growers, Richard Hamby. Woodbury United Methodist Church sells his famous pumpkins to further their service and education efforts, and return a portion of the proceeds to Pumpkin Patach USA, Hamby's farm.  A fundraiser for the church.  Pumpkin sale one Sunday, Sept. 28th at noon and continues daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, and Sundays noon to 6 p.m. until October 31.
