on the Battell Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk. Norfolk August Arts Weekend Norfolk Artists & Friends will have its Seventh Annual August Arts Weekend on August 7 - 8 - 9. The public is invited to join us for the Friday night opening reception from 5 - 7:30 PM, on Saturday from 12 - 5PM and on Sunday from 11 - 4PM. The Exhibition is held on the beautiful Battell Stoeckel Estate in the Battell Stoeckel Gallery (the Art Barn) in Norfolk, CT. Follow the signs for location and parking. This year 20 artists will be represented in a variety of mediums: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, mixed media, print mediums, and fine jewelry.

Winter Wine Trail

Six area wineries will be participating in the -2015 Litchfield Hills Winter Wine Trail through  March 29, 2015. The participating wineries for this season are: DiGrazia Vineyards in Brookfield, Haight-Brown Vineyard in Litchfield, Hopkins Vineyard in New Preston, Jerram Winery in New Hartford, Miranda Vineyard and Sunset Meadow Vineyards both in Goshen. Each winery is required to be open from December through March with their hours posted on the trail card.

Christians call it the Way of the Cross. A contemporary Buddhist author calls it “going to the places that scare you.” It is the darkest of times. It is a journey of transformation. To whom can we look as models who conquered the fear of transformation by going through the experience of death and come out “new?” Award-winning artist Janet McKenzie will exhibit fifteen oil on canvas paintings depicting The Way of the Cross and the Resurrection.

Trinity Lime Rock Church will hold its winter juried art show January 31, Febuary 1 and Febuary 7,8, 2015 from noon to 4PM.  The show is part of the town's Jumpfest Winter Festival.  Prizes for winners.  Jurors will be Martha Baer, a senior specialist at Christies Auction House and local artist Eric Forstmann.  Entry date is January 25 from noon to 2PM.  An opening reception and award presentation will be held January 30th from 5 to 7PM.  Call for further information.

A new exhibit by animal and nature photographer Ruth Pearl called A Journey to the Enchanted Islands will be on view during regular hours at the Gunn Memorial Library's Stairwell Gallery.  The Enchanted Islands were formed by volcanic eruption in the Pacific Ocean and each has its own unique fauna and flora.

Collections, Community & Conversation..Continued -- Opens Saturday, January 31, 2015. On display Wednesday through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Saturday, March 21, 2015. Huntington Hall, the museum exhibit space, is filled with a wealth of interesting objects gleaned from the collections of individuals from The Greater Danbury area. On display is an eclectic mix of objects including vintage bottle openers, angels, custard cups, militaria, American pottery, bells, abalone shell decorated items, Disney memorabilia, embroidered aprons & crocheted potholders, kites and more. Due to the popularity of last year's exhibit, we're pleased to once again offer this opportunity to enthusiastic collectors from The Greater Danbury area. It has proven to be a fun and exciting way to welcome the community to the museum and for individuals to share their passion for the art of collecting.
