Wings of Freedom Tour Brings Vintage Airplanes to Oxford

The Wings of Freedom Tour will be at the Oxford Airport from September 5 to September 7, 2014 and arrive at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5th and depart on Sunday at 5 p.m.  The Tour brings historic aviation to your community.  Tour through the authentically restored aircraft or take a flight aboard for the ultimate immersion in history.  The B-17, B-24 and P-51 are on the 25th season of the Wings of Freedom Tour. Visitors are invited to explore the aircraft inside and out; $15 for adults and $6 for children under age 12.  WWII veterans can tour through the aircraft a no cost.  Call for further information.

The public is invited to join us for the Friday night opening reception from 5 - 7:30 PM, on Saturday from 12 - 5PM and on Sunday from 11 - 4PM. The Exhibition is held on the beautiful Battell Stoeckel Estate in the Battell Stoeckel Gallery (the Art Barn) in Norfolk, CT. Follow the signs for location and parking. The Hunt Library in Falls Village will hold its popular year-end flash art exhibit, 12X12 2013, on Thursday December 12 with a reception from 6pm to 8pm.  All works are in a 12" x 12" format and are priced at $100 each.  A portion of the art sales will benefit the library.  Remaining works will be on display through Saturday, December 21. Textiles join math and history in this exhibition. Artist Gail Rothschild charts the craftsmanship of each woven artifact in her Ancient Linen series, while simultaneously conveying their deterioration in the face of time. Cornell mathematician Daina Taimina marries art and science with crocheted sculptures of hyperbolic planes. Her work explores the 3-D world from a fourth dimension vantage point.
