Litchfield Historical Society Hosts Summer Serenades--Outdoor Concert Series --Bill Fischer and Wry Bred--Dancing

On July 29, 2012 at 3PM the Litchfield Historical Society will continue its Summer Serenades Outdoor Concert Series.  Bill Fischer and Wry Bred. Fischer has been calling dances for over twenty-five years, starting out in New Haven, Connecticut, with the contra dance series that has been a fixture of the folk music and dance scene there for nearly thirty years. Fischer will lead participants in a number of Civil War era dances. Local contra dance band, Wry Bred, will accompany him as he calls out the steps during this fun-filled hour of dance!  Admission $5 for individuals; $10 families.  All concerts take place on the Tapping Reeve House lawn.

Barkhamsted Historical Society's One Room Schoolhouse Open House

The Barkhamsted Historical Society's one room schoolhouse, the old Center School in Barkhamsted will be open to the public on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 1PM to 4PM.  Come and find out what school was like in the old days.  Ask questions; read the old books; review a high school entrance exam; try your hand at various toys and games, or do some arithmetic problems on a slate.  All free of charge. Children are especially welcome.

Southbury - Summer's Monday Concert Series - THE BERNADETTES

On Monday - 6:30 – 8:30 P.M.  “The Bernadettes” have been providing memorable musical entertainment
for over a decade at a variety of events.  They play familiar tow tapping sounds of Motown, the infectious dance grooves of Memphis soul shooters such as Wilson Pickett, the smooth sophisticated sounds of Earth, Wind and Fire, the hard driving funk rock of Sly and the Family Stone. These concerts are free and open to the public.  All concerts will be at the Memorial Green
between the Town Hall and the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center building.  Bring a lawn chair or a blanket.  In case of rain the concert will be held inside the Parks & Recreation/Senior Building.
