On  Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 6:30PM at the Tapping Reeve Law School, South Street, the Litchfield Historical Society partners with White Memorial Conservation Center for a Halloween Spooktacular.  At the Law School enjoy excerpts from The Legend of Sleep Hollow by Ilvi Dulac and Jane Counghlin.  Take a walk down Gallows Lane and end up at he A.B. On Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 11:30AM the Gunn Memorial Museum will end their Civil War Program with a lecture--A Jezebel Among Us with Lynne McKenney Lydick.  Our exhibit, Letters from the Battlefield closes with a look at the anti-slavery controversy that raged in Washington in the years before the war.  171 years ago Quaker Pacifist Abby Kelley Foster spoke publicly at the Congregational Church in Washington.  Learn about her shocking visit during this first-person living history performance.  The presentation at the First Congregational Church, 6 Kirby Rd, on Washington Green will be followed by a closing reception in the Museum.  Free and open to the public.

Enter the realm of the paranormal with The Northwest Ct Paranormal Society's professional investigator John Zontok and Bob Mills, a professional photographer who helps the team differentiate true paranormal pictures from forged images. They will discuss the history of the Society, the 'tools of the trade,' the history of paranormal photography, and share audio of ghostly voices and videos of what could be a revolutionary soldier.  You'll hear about local hauntings, including a Barkhamsted barn investigation featured on the Animal Planet's "The Haunted" series and about their film project for the Biography Channel's "My Ghost Story."  Plus a question and answer segment.  Due to the macabre nature of this program, ages 12 and up please.  $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
