November 14--Nepal Odyssey: The Plight of a Remote Village.Retired teacher, Conservation Center member, and volunteer Carol Williams loves spending her summers on a small lake in New Hampshire. Last summer she connected with an old tennis friend and heard about her travels teaching and trekking in Nepal. The more Williams heard, the more she wanted to join her friend to teach English in a remote village outside Kathmandu up in the hilly region of the country. That opportunity presented itself in April 2015. Carol planned to spend 4 weeks teaching and 2 weeks trekking in the mountains near Mt. Everest. Little did she know that her plans would be turned upside down by not one, but actually two earthquakes, the likes of which had not been seen in eighty years! Williams compelling presentation covers her experiences during the 4 week stay in Nepal teaching, digging out, helping with relief efforts, and opening the school to teach English to those who wanted to come. 2:00 P.M., A. B. Ceder Room. FREE...all donations accepted today will be donated to Carol Williams' continued relief efforts in Nepal.
