On Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at the Oliver Wolcott Library a Family Day--Animals on he Move will take place.  All ages welcome--Please register.  You will meet Animal Ambassadors representing different methods of locomotion such as a sugar glider, an alligator snapping turtle, a Eurasian eagle owl, a red-eyed tree frog, an Indian sand boa and a rabbit.  Plus, Gingerbread cookie decorating will be ongoing in the Community Room!

Brookfield Historical Society Hosts 3rd Annual Traditional  Christmas Family Day--Time and Date of Event: Saturday December 14, 2013,  Noon to 4 PM--Place of Event: Brookfield Museum 165 Whisconier Road (Intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center. Brief Description: Barbara Golde, Exhibit Director for the Brookfield Historical Society, holds up a vintage Howdy Doody Puppet, one of the  many classic, dolls, toys and other items reminiscent of Christmas's gone by that will be on display at the Brookfield Museum's 3rd annual   Traditional Christmas Family Day. Santa will be stopping by with his helpers bearing complimentary treats for the kids. The sight of Model trains in a winter display, will entertain children of all ages, while the sound of antique music boxes will fill the air with well-known Christmas musical classics. Attendees will enjoy complimentary home made Christmas cookies and assorted pastries, as well as hot chocolate and mulled cider. Carolers will also be on hand to sing favorite seasonal songs. The Holiday open house will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from Noon to 4P.M., at the Brookfield Museum located at the junction of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center. Admission is free.  A must see visit for families that is guaranteed to get everyone into the spirit of the season.

The xford Historical Society will open the Twitchell-Rowland Homestead Museum decorated for Christmas with scenes of Old St. Nick thoughout the 1755  saltbox and a large miniature holiday village featuring a working train, lamplit streets, and hundreds of buildings, animals and people.  Hours for the docent-led tours:  Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 2-4PM and again on January 5, 2014 from 2 to 4PM.  Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
