Audubon Connecticut Bird-Friendly Ambassador Training Friday, June 17,2016-- 10am-3pm. Interested in helping others create habitat for birds?  You might be a master gardener, landscaper, citizen scientist, naturalist, land trust steward or other practitioner or a knowledgeable backyard gardener eager to learn more.  This is an all-day workshop with expert-guided sessions focused on creating habitat for birds, conducting habitat assessments (with birds in mind) and providing tools and resources you can access to further aid learning. Lunch will be provided. Check-in begins at 9:30am on both days. Cost to register is $20. The Cornwall Library's annual summer kick-off benefit, Books and Blooms takes place this year on June 17 and 18, 2016.  At 5:30PM on Friday, June 17th, Mark Prezorski Landscape Curator of The Olana Partnership will give a presentation at the Library on the 250 acre landscape in Hudson, New York.  Tours of five gardens in Cornwall Village, West Cornwall, Cornwall Bridge and Cornwall Hollow begin at 10AM Saturday.  Admission to Friday evening's presentation and reception cost $30 with reservations made by June 10th strongly suggested.  Saturday garden tours' cost is $30 with tickets available at the Library.  The cost for attending both days' activities is $50.  Maps and tickets for the garden tour will be available at the Library on Saturday, June 18th.
