The Torrington Historical Society invites children ages 10 - 12 to have fun with local history at History Camp 2009. The program will be held Monday, July 27th through Friday, July 31st, from 9am to noon each day. Campers will learn about Native American culture, enjoy a hike around historic Sunnybrook Park, experience a Civil War encampment with re-enactors, and explore the Society's exhibits about Torrington's history. With the exception of the Sunnybrook Park outing, for which transportation will be provided, all activities will be held on the ground of the Society, at 192 Main Street, Torrington. Beverages and snacks will be available to campers each day. Cost for the program is $50/child for Society members, $65/child for non-Society members, and enrollment in the camp is limited; registrations will be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis and the deadline is July 22nd, 2009.
