68 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790. Phone: 860-489-7180.

Singers from Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus will perform with the originators of contemporary Celtic music, Clannad, in a concert at The Warner Theatre in Torrington, CT on Sunday, September 30th at 7 PM. Celtic music legend Clannad has crafted musical offerings blending traditional and modern melodies, reflecting a bold approach to writing and recording. This Grammy award-winning group has sold over ten million records worldwide, and is largely responsible for the fact that this musical genre is well-known and embraced globally. They have amassed a collection of over seventeen albums touching on folk, rock, jazz and world music. U-2's Bono has proclaimed Clannad's lead vocalist Máire Brennan, as "... one of the greatest voices the human ear has ever experienced." The choirs of Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus, under the artistic direction of Gabriel Löfvall, have impressed audiences with the best in choral music.  Celebrating 20 years of musical excellence in 2011, they have performed with The Hartford Symphony, at  the Music Shed and Infinity Hall in Norfolk, CT, and at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.  Chorus Angelicus has also toured nationally and internationally.  The New York Times described their sound as possessing a quality"... almost as a resonating glass of water." Formed in 1992, Gaudeamus is also known for its collaboration with artists such as Pete Seeger, and recently the group was invited by SONY/Pioneer to record an album of a cappella masterworks to demonstrate state-of-the-art surround-sound technology in a release entitled Sacred Feast, which has been praised by Billboard Magazine, and Pro Audio Magazine.  In addition, Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus have produced seven CDs of their works, and an eighth is currently in production. For more information, or to buy tickets for this one-night-only concert engagement, call The Warner Theatre at 860-489-7180 or visit  their website at
