5K Run Into the New Year, accessible to participants of all ages, takes runners on a fairly flat out-and-back route on Downtown's historic Main Street.  The First Night 5K Run into the New Year starts at 10AM from CityCenter Danbury, Danbury Green to Rogers Park and back to CityCenter.  After the race, stay for CityCenter First Night and all the New Year's Eve Festivities.  The entry fee is $25/ $30 on Race Day.  Register on-line through Friday, December 25, 2013.  Overall winners will receive trophies and medals will be awarded to winners in their age groups.  There are no water stops on this course so be sure to drink beforehand. First Night Plymouth!--Date: December 31, 2013--Time: 7pm--Cost: $5 adults, under 18 free. Down Home Frolic will play traditional,old-timey, hand clapping and sing along music at the Plymouth Congregational Church (10 Park Street).
Down Home Frolic, comprised of Dan Gardella on fiddle and Fran Block on banjo, ukulele and spoons (not all at the same time!), has played at many fairs and festivals.  Meanwhile, at the First Baptist Church of Plymouth (4 North Street), Joe O'Toole will play jazz guitar and tunes from the American songbook, such as Gershwin and Cole Porter. Mr. O'Toole studied jazz guitar at Berklee College of Music and Western Connecticut State University. He has performed with two time Hartford Grand Band Slam award winner The Realm and the progressive rock band Magnetar as well as fronting his own Jazz trio. Refreshments will be available at both churches after the performances.
