Richard Blanco, the 2013 inaugural poet, will open the Salisbury Forum's fall season on Friday, September 27,2013 with Navigating Identities at 7:30PM.  The Salisbury Forum will be held at the Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village.  After his presentation Mr. Blanco will autograph copies of his books, which will be available for purchase. Free and everyone is invited.

On Friday, September 27, 2013 from 5-8PM young artists of all disciplines are invited to The Aldrich for an evening of art, music, poetry, pizza, and more. Teens from The Aldrich's Varsity Docent Program and the Ridgefield Music and Art Center will host their peers at an informal and free social event that includes art making and performance. Torrington Historic Preservation Trust Hosts Rock Concert -- Restoration of Skee's Diner

Flanders Nature Center Program: Northwest CT's Growing Black Bear Population--Woodbury

Michael Evans, a doctoral student in wildlife biology at UCONN has constructed bear hair collecting stations at Flanders and several other northwestern CT sites for a DEEP study to gain bear population estimates in the epicenter of the states growing black bear population. Due in part to forest regrowth on abandoned farmland bears have been returning to CT with resident population now estimated to be in the hundreds, primarily in northwestern CT. Come learn from Mike’s knowledge and experience, including how to best coexist with the black bears in our backyards.Saturday, September 28th | 10AM. $12 members/$15 non-members at The Studio.
