Wine & Jazz: The Ultimate Pairing 10/17/14 at 7:00 PM , 10/10/14 at 9:00 PM. Treat yourself to a truly interactive wine tasting and jazz experience hosted by a unique husband and wife team. Throughout the evening, guests will take part in tasting a variety of wines, each celebrating an historic era of jazz from the 20th century, led by NPR's "A Moment in Wine" host, Fred Tregaskis. During each tasting, internationally-acclaimed trumpet player Louise Baranger and her trio will perform spirited jazz sets to accompany each wine. Baranger is an accomplished and experienced instrumentalist with fire, range, and sophistication. She has performed at most major jazz festivals, on television, and for two US presidents. This event is part of New England Arts & Entertainment's Autumn Jazz Series at the Poli Club. Season tickets for all four shows are available for $110 and include a reserved table. Bethel St. Mary's Catch Me If You Can 5K/10K

The 5k/10k race starts at 8:30 a.m. The Kids Fun Run begins at 10:15. Race goes rain or shine. The new race course will be all around downtown Bethel and ends with a victory lap down School Street to the Municipal Center Lawn. This is a beautiful course with good shade and a challenging, fun hill. There is a great "after party" for all the 5k, 10k, and Kids FunRun runners . . . plan on sticking around a while!

Flanders Nature Center Hosts Annual Fall Fundraising/Auction--Woodbury

Fine Line Art Gallery is a cooperative gallery located in the historic part of Woodbury, in what was once a 19th century residence. It features contemporary and traditional artwork, including paintings in a variety of media, archival photographs, prints, pottery, jewelry and greeting cards. The gallery itself is warm and inviting has been in existence for over two decades. During business hours, there is at least one artist hosting the gallery, ready to answer questions and share information about the artwork and the variety of media used by the artists. 15 Connecticut artists run the gallery, exhibit their artwork and host several events per year. The artwork has won numerous awards and enhances collections throughout the USA and abroad. Smaller items are perfect as one-of-a-kind gifts. This fall, each painter at Fine Line Art Gallery is donating a painting to Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust in Woodbury, for a silent auction of fine art. The event will be held on October 18, 2014 at the Southbury Crowne Plaza. For over 50 years, Flanders has been delivering their mission to acquire, preserve, and manage land; and to use the land to promote the understanding and appreciation of nature and the environment.
