Sally Allen will sign copies of her new book, Unlocking Worlds: A Reading Companion for Book Lovers, (Griffins Wharf, $15.00) at The Hickory Stick Bookshop on Saturday, December 19th at 2:00 pm. Unlocking Worlds begins with a chapter explaining how to let a book change you. In it, Allen explains that it is not necessary that a reader connects with a literary masterpiece. Rather, it is totally okay to be able to relate to a book not considered a literary masterpiece. Reading is very personal and subjective.

Since the Christmas Bird count began over a century ago, it has relied on the dedication and commitment of volunteers like you. There is a specific methodology to the CBC, and all participants must make arrangements to participate in advance with the circle compiler within an established circle, but anyone can participate.If you are a beginning birder, you will be able to join a group that includes at least one experienced birdwatcher.
