On May 23, 2015 starting at 8:30PM the David Wood Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held at United Church of Christ on Main St. North.  The out and back course will wind through Settlers Park on paved and dirt roads.  Fee $20 before May 16 and $25 until race day.  Awards.

The Children's Chorus of Springfield will provide Downtown Springfield with a one-of-a-kind musical experience where the voices of children representing children's choirs from throughout New England will fill the streets of the city with incredible music for a free outdoor concert at Court Square in Downtown Springfield, MA. Participating choirs will be paired with a college/university music professor who will provide individual master classes followed by a combined mass festival choir performance with four-time Grammy winning conductor Charles Bruffy.

Memorial Day Parade--Bantam

On Sunday 10 a.m. gathering at the Bantam Cemetery where legionnaires, scouts and local citizens will decorate nearly 200 veterans graves in the Bantam Cemetery with new American Flags and floral piece in keeping with a tradition that started after the Civil War, and has been perpetuated by Bantam's American Legion Legion Post 44. The parade will start at 2 p.m. on Doyle Road and end at at the Bantam Cemetery.

Brookfield Museum and Historical Society - Annual Strawberry Festival

The Festival will take place on Sunday, May 24, 2015, between 12:30 and 3:00 P.M. It will be held outside the Brookfield Museum located at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center, following the Town’s Memorial Day parade. The parade ends near the museum parking lot where strawberry shortcake and soft drinks will be sold to support future public programs of the Society. The band, provided by Hegarty Realty, will be on hand in the park behind the Historical Society building to entertain and a display of antique and vintage automobiles will also featured in the parking lot. At the same time, within the Society’s Museum, the fifth annual Brookfield War Memorial exhibit will be open to the public. It is a moving display, which honors 44 former Brookfield residents who gave their lives while in the military, in service to the United States. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Students of the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education Performance Lab presents DOGFIGHT--May 28-31, 2015. The students from the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education Performance Lab are proud to present the new musical Dogfight,in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre this week, May 28-31, 2015. A young soldier learns the power of compassion when he plays a cruel joke on an unsuspecting girl. The hauntingly beautiful musical Dogfight by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Edges, James and the Giant Peach, A Christmas Story) and Peter Duchan, was praised by countless critics and nominated for numerous awards and won the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical. Based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film, Dogfight takes audiences on a romantic and heartbreaking theatrical journey that stays with you long after the performance.  Mature language and subject matter: not suitable for very young audiences. Performances are this Thursday & Friday, May 28 & 29 at 8 pm and Saturday & Sunday, May 30 & 31 at 2 pm. Tickets are $12.50.
