Woodbury Community Theater On Golden Pond

10/20/2017 to 10/29/2017

5 Mountain Road, Woodbury, CT Phone: 203-263-3113.

October 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 Friday & Saturday 7:30 PM Sunday 2:00 PM. This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, and the perfect foil for Norman, delights in all the small things that have enriched and continue to enrich their long life together. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness—and slang—in return. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits. Performance at Woodbury Historic Town Hall.

The Palace Theatre Waterbury A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder

10/20/2017 to 10/21/2017

100 E. Main St, Waterbury, CT Phone: 203-346-2000.

8 pm. Getting away with murder can be so much fun... and there's no better proof than the knock-'em-dead hit show that's earned unanimous raves and won the 2014 Tony Award® for best musical—A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER!
Coming direct from New York, where a most gentlemanly NPR critic said he'd "never laughed so hard at a Broadway musical," GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by – you guessed it – eliminating the eight pesky relatives (all played by one fearless man) who stand in his way. All the while, Monty has to juggle his mistress (she's after more than just love), his fiancée (she's his cousin but who's keeping track?), and the constant threat of landing behind bars! Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance... and be done in time for tea.
