The Mattatuck Museum is pleased to host author Charles Monagan for a book talk and signing to celebrate his most recent publication, the novel Carrie Welton on Wednesday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. Published by Penmore Press, Carrie Welton is a fictional account of the life of Waterbury's favorite nineteenth-century heroine, Caroline Josephine Welton (1842-1884). This program is free with museum admission.

Litchfield Historical Society lecture:  Glimpses of Spring Hill School featuring Linda Hocking, Curaor of Library and Archives for the Society.  Litchfield is well known for its two pioneering 18th century schools.  Dorothy Bull and Mabel Foster Spinney founded Spring Hill School, operating from 1926 to 1939.  The student newspaper included works by your Peter Seeger, who would later gain renown as a folk singer.  Free and open to the public. On Friday April 29, 2016 from 5PM to Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 12 Noon the 26th Annual Museum Sleep-In will take place at the White Memorial Conservation Center.  Kids in Grades 4-6 will take part in a real life "Night at the Museum".  Go on a night hike, sit by a campfire, meet live animals and sleep by your favorite exhibit.  No parents allowed.  Members $55, Non Member $85.
