730 Main St. South, Southbury, CT 06488.
The Southbury Women's Club (SWC) plans its third annual Turkey Trot, a USATF certified 5K run, walk and Kid's Fun Run for Thursday, November 26. This Thanksgiving Day tradition enables family and friends to support local community organizations while starting the day in a healthy way by participating in a 5K and Kids Fun Run. The race will benefit the Southbury Food Bank, Fuel Banks and Needy Fund. The Thanksgiving Day event will be held at The Gym, 730 Main Street South and will start at 8 a.m. with a Kid's Fun Run ($7). The 5K race begins at 8:30 a.m. Prizes will go to the top three male and female finishers in eight age categories. The race is limited to 1,500 runners so sign up early! Runners, walkers and stroller pushers of all ages are welcome. A long sleeve performance race T-shirt is guaranteed to those who register online by November 1, along with a discounted fee of $25 (includes processing fees). On-line registration officially ends Sunday, November 222, with the discounted fee available until then. If spots are still left, registration will be available at The Gym on Wednesday, November 25th for $30. No race day registration. The Kids Fun Run, a separate event coordinated by Jenny Roper in conjunction with the Southbury Women's Club and the Turkey Trot, will aid Children2Children, a non profit organization that distributes clothing and shoes to children in need locally and in third world countries. All participants, both adults and children, are encouraged to bring gently used clothing and shoes to donate to Children2Children.
