Sponsored by Friends of the Edsel Ford Memorial Library and the Scoville Memorial Library.  Four sessions on history, bee biology, bee diseases, and hive management narrated with pointed details and amusing anecdotes to make the information come alive. Hands-on instruction and demonstration of hive inspection techniques, comb handling, mite monitoring, wax rendering, hive management methods, splitting, honey harvesting, winterizing and more. Litchfield Farmers' market - Opening Day INDOORS.  Saturday October 24.  10 am - 1 pm.  The CT Grown Litchfield HIlls Farm-Fresh market is moving indoors to the Litchfield Community Center for the winter season.  Over 18 vendors participate offering seasonal field-fresh and cold-stored fruits, vegetables and herbs; local eggs; pasture fed beef, pork and lamb; artisanal breads and chocolates; pies, cider doughnuts and baked goods; jams, jellies, chutney, pickles, sauces and hot sauce made from local ingredients; award winning goat and cow cheese; honey; maple syrup and goat milk soaps.  Local restaurants offer foods to go. A recipe tasting each week.  Seasonal artists and guests have great offerings for yourself or special presents. Falls Village resident, business owner, and author Ann Bidou will discuss her new book "Your Own Terms: A Woman's Guide to Taking Charge of Any Negotiation" at the David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village on Saturday, October 24 at 6pm. Copies of the book will be available for sale and will be signed by the author during a reception with refreshments following the presentation. The event is free and open to the public. "Your Own Terms," which received a starred review in Publisher's Weekly, helps women learn to negotiate confidently and successfully, striking a balance between being perceived as weak or overly aggressive. Guidelines, stories, and exercises illuminate the psychology of negotiation and reveal how women can control how they are perceived, build leverage, deploy persuasion, and eliminate self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors. The ultimate goal of the book is to help women discover their personal negotiation style and use it to the fullest.

4th Annual Haunted House--Falls Village

The Fourth Annual Haunted House on October 24, 2015 at the Housatonic Valley Regional High School will be held in the high school cafeteria.  The Halloween Bash for children under 10 will be from 1 to 3PM featuring games, prizes, candy and other festive activities.  The Haunted House will be from 7 to 9PM and is recommended for ages 13 and older.  Admission for each event is $7.  Refreshments will be sold.
