9-11:30 am. Grades 1 to 8. Calligraphy is the art of decorative handwriting and lettering. For this fun program, where you'll get familiar with the instruments of calligraphy -- the calligrapher's pen (felt-tip), the template sheet, and calligraphy paper. You'll learn the technique of two of the calligraphic alphabets and learn to develop a style all your own! With a little practice to gain some skill, you'll create some colorful works of art... including your own greeting cards!

Karen Rossi Studios Norfolk Summer Program

We'll be holding an arts program in Norfolk this summer from July 24th to August 4th (Monday through Friday) at the Church of Christ Congregational on the Norfolk Green, at the intersection of 44 and 272. The hours are 10 to 3pm. Ages 9- tween It's 175 per week, $40 a day. It's limited to 12 students -we have a ratio of four students per one adult/per day. We will be working on a public art project (the Abundant Love Project). Each student will have a sketchbook (focus on journaling as we adventure on our walks through downtown). With visits to the library which houses an art gallery, The Artisans Guild, and the Yale Summer School of Art and Music, we will meet with Artists, learn about their process, & their work.

Me, Myself, and Art with Adam Handler. Explore the endless array of possibilities for including yourself in your art! Join teaching artist Adam Handler to experience how different artists have depicted themselves, interpreted others, and represented the human figure. Then experiment with creating your own work through painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography. The campers will unveil all the work they create at an exhibition on Friday, July 28, from 5 to 6 pm.

White Memorial Foundation Yoga in the Garden

In the garden behind the White Memorial museum, we will practice gentle, Vinyasa yoga as we listen to the birds, feel the morning breezes, and celebrate the warmth of the summer sun. Class will be followed by a brief guided meditation for those who would like to participate. This is an all levels, all ages program and requires no prior yoga or meditation experience! Recent studies have shown the benefits of yoga, which include stress reduction, improvement in strength, flexibility, and balance.
