On Sunday, May 3, 2009 The Gunnery School in Washington holds the 2009 Founder's Day Crew Regatta on Lake Waramaug. There will be 28 schools sending co-ed teens to oar 1,500 meters in record time. The heats will be held in the morning and the the finals in the afternoon. There will be a Grand Final for each event. There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the day. On Sunday, at 7 p.m. A concert sure to please anyone who watches television or enjoys the movies. The Danbury Music Centre presents the Danbury Community Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen Michael Smith, in will take place on the mid-town campus of Western Connecticut State University. The concert will include music from the sound tracks of Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Lone Ranger, Apocalypse Now and Lord of the Ring. This concert is appropriate for families and people of all ages. It will be one hour long. The 75-piece Danbury Community Orchestra is comprised of auditioned teenagers and adults from greater Danbury. Stephen Michael Smith, director of the Stephen Smith Singers of New York City, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, and the Founder/Conductor Laureate of Sing Out! Brooklyn. Special thanks to Savings Bank of Danbury and to Susan Payne for providing funding for this concert. Admission is free.
