May 2 - American Military Forum - Operation Iraqi Freedom--Mike Zacchea and GeneralMike Zaccheabattlel of Falusia. Retired Marine Officer Mike Zacchea, of Brookfield, will deliver a power point presentation presentation on Operation Iraqi Freedom and his involvement as a Marine Officer leading an Infantry unit made up of Iraqi soldiers during the 2nd Battle of Falusia. The Mattatuck Museum is pleased to present a Lithuanian folk art workshop led by Lead Museum Educator Valerie Rodgers, on Wednesday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. This workshop celebrates the rich cultural legacy of this Baltic country. Margučiai is the Lithuanian art of egg decorating which uses a wax-resist method to reveal intricate designs on colored eggs. All supplies will be provided. No experience is necessary. The cost for this workshop is $5 for Museum Members and $10 for Non-Members.

Flanders presents Artist Nature Journaling--Wednesdays, May 4, 11, 18, 25 | 9:30 - 11:30 AM at The Studio. Flanders wildlife and habitat scenes in May are filled with countless opportunities for artists to create works of art. Melody Asbury will be your guide to explore our trails and inspire your artist journal. Students can plan on painting and drawing outside or in the Van Vleck studio in case of rain. Pen and ink, watercolor or pencil or other portable mediums are all suitable to paint the variety of life bursting in vernal pools, ponds, forest and field. Each page created documents natures amazing diversity and abundance of life that share our earth home. Location: the Studio located at the corner of Flanders & Church Hill Road.
