National Trails Day at Weir Farm National Historic Site

On Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM, Weir Farm National Historic Site in cooperation with the Ridgefield Conservation Commission and the Norwalk River Watershed Assn. will offer a guided hike through the many trails of their trail network. During the four mile hike through Ridgefield's Open Space area and CT DOT lands the group leaders will discuss the diverse botany of the area, land use history, and watershed management, as well as teach observation skills that will help hikers locate and identify many of the plants and animals of the area. Pomperaug Woods and Independent Retirement Community in Southbury weekend festivities is, "Art is Here and Everywhere". Benefit Performance The Gary - The Olivia Performing Arts Center at the Abbey of Regina Laudis presents A Little Summer Night Music, an evening of song and dance benefitting The Gary - The Olivia Theater, a theatrical tradition in northwest CT, entertaining and enriching audiences for over twenty years.

This special event will include performances from past productions at The Gary - The Olivia Theater such as My Fair Lady(2005), The Music Man(2006), Fiddler on the Roof(2007), and the much anticipated 2008 production of West Side Story.

After the performance, guests will enjoy artisan made cheeses and wines from the Northeast region and an opportunity to meet the eveningļæ½s performing artists.

The Gary - The Olivia Theater Built in 1982 through the help of actress Patricia Neal, this open-air theater seats 300 people. Past productions range from Shakespeare to Sartre and from opera to musical theater. Recent performances have included Love Letters starring Patricia Neal and James Douglas, She Stoops to Conquer, directed by Pirie MacDonald.

The Gary - The Olivia Performing Arts Center is a new, nonprofit performing arts organization presenting, promoting and fostering excellence in the performing arts through theatrical productions and educational workshops at The Gary - The Olivia Theater on the grounds of the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT.
