The Trails Day theme for 2009 is Take in the Outdoors, an invitation to get outside and experience everything Connecticut has to offer. Events range from hiking and biking to paddling, horseback riding, trail maintenance, orienteering, letterboxing - a great variety of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. World Peace Flag Ceremony - All God's Children's Day

On Sunday, 10AM all are invited to Church of Christ Congregational, Village Green, in Norfolk, for a celebration of All God's Children's Day and a World Peace Flag Ceremony. Following a brief worship service, in the church sanctuary, participants will process to the Village Green to take part in an International Flag Ceremony. Thirty flags, on loan from the World Peace Sanctuary in Amenia, New York, will represent countries throughout the world. Through a special musical offering, performed by Lizzy West and Baba Buffalo, we will unite to express our desire for world peace. Following the peace flag ceremony, a potluck picnic will take place on the church grounds, followed by a ball game at the community field on Mountain Road, Norfolk. 3rd Annual Naugatuck River Duck Race and Fun and Festivities Day

Sunday, June 7 from 11 PM to 4 PM. at the Whittemore Bridge, Water St., Naugatuck, CT. Two duck races involving some 15,000 yellow rubber ducks will highlight the festivities. The 11PM race will be for Corporate Challenge. 2PM is the official race ($5 per ticket). The event will include an assortment of food booths, music, clowns, magicians, jugglers, face-painting stations and other games for children. Ducks will float down the river for about a half-mile. A special trap at the finish line will snare the winning ducks. 50 prizes, including a trip to Disney World will be awarded. Ticketholders do not have to attend to win. Tickets will be distributed to non-profit organizations in Greater Waterbury to be sold. Half the proceeds of the ticket will go directly to the non-profit organization. Held rain or shine.
