Some of these, such as chestnut blight and Dutch elm disease, are familiar to most people. But there are many others, less familiar, that are killing our trees now or will be in the near future. Dr. Gary Lovett, a forest ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, will talk about the history and impacts of these pests and what you can do about this serious problem.

On Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 4- 6 PM as a tribute to Hap Barnes who played a prominent role in the development and success of the New England Carousel Museum.  Hap donated his fire equipment and memorabilia collection and the funding to build the Museum of Fire History in 2002 and left a generous gift as a legacy to Bristol to honor the firefighters both past and present. The public is invited to attend A Happening, a special tribute to Carlyle Hap Barnes.   Join us for a light supper, with great music by Al Caruso and a fun afternoon.  This is exactly the kind of party that Hap would have enjoyed with a gathering of his family, his colleagues, his friends and his admirers.
