11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join the IAIS staff and friends at our Tenth Annual Green Corn Festival as we welcome the first corn of the season with music, food, family, & fun. Come and enjoy fun-filled activities for the whole family including drumming, dancing, crafts, storytelling, powwow style food, arts and crafts for sale, and much more. Corn is an integral part of the annual cycle of life for many Native American people and when the first tender ears are ripe for picking it is cause for celebration. This year we welcome back Native Nation Dancers, Schaghticoke, Objiwa and Lumbee, dancing both Northern and Southern Traditional styles along with newcomers to the IAIS Albert Zamora, (Mashantucket Pequot) and Althnageebah Myles (Dine), and Christopher Newell (Passamaquoddy) from Mystic River Drum Group . Also joining us this year are Storytellers Janis Us (Mohawk-Shinnecock descent) and Darlene Kascak (Schaghticoke). Fee: $10 Adults; $6 Children. Held Rain or Shine.
