History Professor and Harwinton resident Dr. Holly Richards will lead a program on the Vietnam War on Sunday, Nov. 1, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Harwinton Library, Bentley Drive off Route 118. The Vietnam War was a long and costly armed conflict where more than 3 million people, including 58,000 Americans, were killed. There is no charge for the program, but donations are gratefully accepted.

Students in grades kindergarten through fifth while out of school on Tuesday, November 3rd for Election Day , are invited to experience a "Flanders Outdoor Adventure"! They will enjoy a full day of fun exploring the Flanders trails, forest, pond and fields looking for tracks and signs of what animals are doing to get ready for winter. Stories, hiking, art projects and games are all part of the fun! Then on Veteran's Day, Wednesday, November 11th , all area students in grades kindergarten through 5th are welcomed to attend a "Nature Safari" where they will be hiking the trails to discover the amazing wildlife at Flanders learning facts, stories and the history of animals getting ready for the long winter months.The student workshops will be held both days at the Flanders Trail House on Church Hill Road from 9AM to 3PM. The cost for each workshop is $35 for Flanders members and $45 for nonmembers. Before and after care also available at $7 /hour.
