Students will have a blast learning about the three branches of government, the First Amendment, presidential elections, democracy, the judicial process, and more. Barreling through a variety of musical styles relevant to today's youth, including rock, rhythm-and-blues, and hip-hop, We the People will instill American pride in audiences of all ages, and perhaps even inspire them to get involved and make a difference. Tickets $10.00. Grades 4-8.

The David M. Hunt Library will host the Artisans Group Holiday Market on Saturday, December 12th from 10am to 4pm at the Center on Main in Falls Village. This event is a collaboration between the library and the Artisans Group, an association of makers and artisan craft professionals residing in Connecticut's Northwest Corner. This event is free and open to the public. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Hunt Library. Purchases will be complimented with a gift certificate for a free dessert at the Falls Village Inn. Quality hand-crafted gifts will include weaving and other fiber arts, paper crafts, leatherwork, fine woodwork, blown glass, skin products, jewelry, and much more.

Friends of Hospice Host Light Up a Life at LARC

On Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 6:30PM at LARC, Inc. in Torrington the Friends of Hospice will host Light Up A Life.  The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30PM.  Shining stars to be hung on the tree in memory of your loved one are $15 per star.  People will be able to put their star on the tree at the reception.  All proceeds will go to Friends of Hospice.

Light Up The Commons! A benefit for the Susan B. Anthony Project of Torrington

Christmas With The Celts brings audiences to their feet with infectious energy, humor, passion, and masterful musicianship. Performing around the world for 15 years,  this combination of Irish born and Irish-American musicians perform a combination of fiery Scottish/Irish traditional instrumental tunes and vocal songs as well as their own Beatles/American pop influenced original songs with Celtic instrumentation. Their recent television special, Christmas With The Celts has aired on over ninety PBS stations and associated regional networks. When you see The Celts you will not only be moved by the infectious energy and passion of the group but you will be impressed by the incredible musicianship of each band member.  A typical concert involves not only fervent, inspired music but also periodic bouts of spirited Irish dancing. The 42nd Annual Mark Twain Library Art Exhibition and Sale,will celebrate that synergy as the Library turns into an art gallery for 10 days in December from the 5th through the 14th during its signature fund raiser and most highly-anticipated event.
The show features two-dimensional works in such media as oil, watercolor and pastel, and three-dimensional work in metal, wood, ceramic, etc.; photographs are not included at this time.  All artists who participate in this show agree to donate 35% of the purchase price to the Mark Twain Library.
