On Wednesday evening, February 11, 2009 at 7PM at the Silas Bronson Library, Waterbury the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth will be celebrated in the Main Reading Room. A costumed re-enactor will speak about the life of Lincoln on the eve of the 200th birthday of our 16th President. The program is geared for a general audience. Admission is free. Torrington Historical Society will celebrate the bicentennial birthday of Abraham Lincoln from 3:30PM to 5PM on Thursday, February 12, 2009 in the Carriage House Museum. The event, planned for school children and their families, will include Lincoln-related activities, patriotic decorations and birthday cake. Students in grades K-6 are invited to participate by submitting original artwork depicting Lincoln. The pieces can be no larger than 9X12 inches and will be displayed at the Carriage House during the celebration. Students should submit their work by Feb. 6th.
