One of the busiest sugaring spots is the Flanders Nature Center Sugar House at Van Vleck Farm Sanctuary in Woodbury. Demonstrations are conducted by staff and volunteers on March 5, 6, 12 and 13th and the season ends with an annual grand finale Maple Celebration on March 19. On March 6 the day begins with a pancake breakfast, topped with Flanders' own maple syrup. The final winter festival on March 19 features music, bird talks and walks, cooking and wood bowl turning demonstrations, maple food sampling, cooking demonstrations and special kids' crafts and activities. Robeson-Miller, who first started his archives compilation and research related to Sage in 1972 and is currently working on publishing the artist's catalogue raisonné, will discuss how Sage was inspired by the Surrealist art movement but also sources outside of the Surrealist sphere. As part of the continuing series featuring local chefs and local foods Salisbury's Country Bistro will demonstrate ideas and recipes for keeping warm the remainder of winter and spring with fresh soups. Holly Hunter Stonehill and Jacqueline Heriteau, author of "A Feast of Soups", show and tell the equipment, basic ingredients and secret to success with just about every soup ever made. They will discuss soups and "Stewps", that is thick stewy soups, that are hot, hearty and comforting dishes using produce from local growers and markets, even in the end of winter. They detail ethnic accents such as French, Italian or Indian and how to achieve them. Stonehill and Heriteau discuss Bistro's three most popular soups and how to make them.
