On Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 1PM The Litchfield Garden Club and The Washington Garden Club will present a Magnificent May Meeting featuring Gay Estes also known as The Lone Arranger from Texas. Ms. Estes is a distinguished Garden Club of America flower arranger. The meeting will be held at the Bryan Memorial Town Hall, Washington Depot. The program and light refreshments are free and open to the public. A Boutique featuring items from Finial, Huntington and Hope, Smith and Hawken and Litchfield Hills Nursery will be on available for purchase. Reservations are necessary as seating is limited. On Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A ribbon cutting will take place at 11 a.m. Those participating include elected officials of the city and state, and the Mattatuck Drum and Bugle Corps. Guided tours will be offered from 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. The $2 million dollar exhibit, which replaces the Brass Roots exhibit, brings the history of the region into the 21st century. The exhibit will take visitors through the region's early days, from the Mattatuck settlement in Colonial times, to life in the Waterbury region today. It tells the story of all the people of Waterbury and its nine adjacent towns. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
