5 Wykeham Road, Washington, CT 06793. Phone: 860-868-7586.

Please join us Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 6:30pm in the Wykeham Room of the Gunn Memorial Library in Washington for the launch of the new "Community Health Information Center" (the "CHI" Center) where we will brief the community on this valuable new health resource center.  The Gunn Memorial Library has agreed to serve as the "beta" site for the CHI model developed by New Milford Hospital, and hopes to replicate in libraries throughout their service area. The new CHI Center consists of current books, pamphlets and an excellent online system is a free resource designed to empower individuals to become better decision-makers about their health care. Accessible from home, as well as in the library, the database includes full text articles, pamphlets, evidence-based reports, images, drug interaction sheets and videos, focusing on CURRENT medical information. Participants at this session can learn how to easily access this robust information center with just a simple visit to the Gunn Library website, and EBSCO Consumer Health Complete link. Users will learn to use remotely from home, with their library card number. Using the CHI Health Information Center, consumers have ready access to a wide array of health information concentrated in a dedicated space in each library. "CHI" stands for Community Health Information, but it is also the traditional Chinese symbol for the life-process and the flow of energy that sustains living beings. In our case, this includes the flow of useful health information that can improve your life. Plow to Plate café of the New Milford Hospital will be serving delightful appetizers and sweets after the session. We hope you'll join us for this exciting event!
