This July, LRWC is offering three week-long, day camp sessions for children entering grades 3 - 6 in the fall of 2017.
LRWC Camp days are interactive, educational, and lots of fun! Get ready for exciting outdoor adventures where you'll learn about our birds, wetlands, and more. Each session includes outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, experiments, games, and crafts, and lots of interaction with our amazing flock of over 450 birds from around the world! New this year! Litchfield Historical Society - Walking Tour: Revolutionary Litchfield

10 am. Starts at Litchfield Historical Society. Join an education staff member for a walking tour through Litchfield's Revolutionary history! Litchfield was a hotbed of activity during the Revolutionary War. Prisoners of war were jailed in this safe town, a military presence guarded stores and provisions, families were divided by those seeking their independence from the British crown. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water. Each walking tour lasts approximately 1 hour. Free for members; $5 for non-members

Free Event. Celebrate July 4th weekend with a casual, family-friendly concert featuring your Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Leif Bjaland. The concert will be performed at Waterbury's Hamilton Park, the evening of Sunday, July 2, beginning at 8:30PM, with fireworks display at 9:15PM. The WSO concert will broadcast live to radio station WATR 1320AM, so tune in to some explosive listening to celebrate an American tradition, fireworks on Independence Day! Come and enjoy front row seats to spectacular fireworks accompanied by a musical program that commemorates the Symphony's history in the community with timeless tunes that span decades and generations. Classic standards, beloved ballads, and patriotic favorites provide the perfect musical backdrop for an evening under the stars with friends, family, and good cheer. Listen, laugh, dine, and dance. WSO Picnic & Pops is music, served just right for summer. Admission is free, thanks to our season and event sponsor, MacDermid Performance Solutions. Sharon Bicycle and Doll Carriage Parade Festival and FIreworks

4:00 PM - Bicycle and Doll Carriage Parade - the parade will travel on Beach Street to the bandstand. (Line up at Beech Tree Park [corner of Pond St and Beach Street] at 3:45 PM, and admire all the decorations!) 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM - the ReMax balloon will be set up at the high school fields (across the street from the entrance to Memorial Park Beach, with free balloon rides from 4:00PM - 6:00PM! 4:30 PM - 9:30 PM - Lakeside Celebration, including: 4:30PM - Face Painting and craft activities, at the picnic tables on the grass outside the bandstand, organized by the Sharon Recreation Department 4:30 - Performance at the bandstand by Circus Dynamics - enjoy juggling, magic, and stunts... A variety of food and drinks will be sold by Sharon community organizations. Sharon's fifth annual Food Truck Fair - featuring some of the Boston area's finest food trucks. Plenty of food choices are available to have dinner at the celebration! 8:30 PM - Pie Eating Contest ($50 first place prize, must be 18 years or older to participate.
