On Friday, August 12, 2011 the Yale Music Festival's Friday and Saturday Series continues featuring Brahms, Stravinsky and Schumann.  Featured artists:  Frank Morelli, bassoon; Tokyo String Quartet, Ettore Causa, viola; Joan Panetti, piano and Fellows of the Norfolk Festival.  Music featured:  Johanne Brahms, Serenade No 2 in A Major, Op 16; Anton Webern, Langsamer Satz; Igor Stravinsky, Three Pieces for String Quartet; and Robert Schumann. Rockin' Southbury--Music and Arts Festival

On Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 11AM to 9PM On The Green in Southbury the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will sponsor  Rockin' Southbury: All-day family music and arts festival.  Local musicians will play live rock, pop, blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, metal and rap music.  There will be something for everyone at this family friendly event.  A minimum $5 donation gets one admission and a $10 donation get an admission "Cure Cystic Fibrosis" bracelet showing their support for this cause.

On Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 11AM to 4PM a Summer Food Festival will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church.  Booths will feature locally raised meats, produce and fruit from area farms, kitchen and cooking supplies, books, spices, herbs, sauces, jams and jellies, ice cream and baked goods.  St. John's will be selling its own cookbook, gift cards, small potted plants, gardening gloves and lunches.  Children's activities include storytelling, readings by guest author Nancy Tafuri, books and puppets from Barefoot Books andd fudge making.  A summer harvest dinner, all created from local produce, meats and fruits begins with a cocktail hour at 6:30PM and dinner at 7:30PM.  Call or check the website for further information.

St. John's Summer Food Festival Features the Best of Everything Local.  Enjoy the lusciousness of the summer harvest at St. John' Church Summer Food Festival on Saturday, August 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to browse through displays filled with the best of many local restaurants, growers, food and beverage suppliers, kitchen and cooking supplies, books, spices and herbs. The Summer Food Festival will take place on the lawn in front of St. John's Rectory on the Washington Green. Convenient parking will be provided in the parking lot between St. John's Church and the Parish House. A special Summer Harvest Dinner will follow with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish House. Twenty percent of all proceeds will go to support the St. John's Outreach Committee which benefits people in need and worthy projects throughout the area.
