Washington Park Foundation - "Words and Music" fundraiser

On August 2nd, from 5:00-7:00pm, a community fundraiser for the Washington Park Foundation will be held at the beautiful estate and gardens of Thayer and Ed Hochberg in Washington. “Words and Music” will be in the property’s 17th century barn amid its exquisite sculpture garden. It will feature poetry and prose readings from local writers Jane Darby, Fiona de Merell, Dimitri Rimsky, and Davyne Verstandig, and music from Barry Blitt, Geoff Cersoli, Doug White, and Tido Holtkamp. Litchfield Historical Society Hosts Litchfield Time Travelers Summer Adventure Camp

Spend a week traveling through time at the Litchfield Historical Society! Starting on Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. children ages 8 and up are invited to explore Litchfield's history through different eras. Participants will learn about the town's first inhabitants and explore Native American culture. They will learn about life during the Revolutionary War from the Oliver Wolcott Sons of the American Revolution reenactors. We will have an immersive day in the life as Litchfield Law School and Female Academy students. The Civil War will come to life through the stories and experiences of town soldiers. We will finish the week-long adventure by jumping into the Colonial Revival and discovering why Litchfield looks the way it does. Each day we will create historic crafts and play games relating to the day's time period. For ages 8-14. Cost is $65 for members and $90 for non-members. Registration is required by July 27th. Camp fee must be paid in full at time of registration.
