7-8 pm. The Price of Illusion is the account of four decades spent in the creative heart of London, New York, Los Angeles, and Paris, where Joan chronicles her quest to discover the difference between glitter and gold, illusion and reality, and what looks like happiness from the thing itself. Joan's memoir tells the story of a life lived in the best places at the most interesting times: London and New York in the swinging 1960s, Rome and Milan in the dangerous 1970s, Paris in the heady 1980s and 1990s.

Speak Up founders and producers Matthew and Elysha Dicks work closely with storytellers to help them craft their stories for the stage and teach storytelling workshops to storytellers and professionals at all levels.

The cornucopia of events organized for August 5,6,and 7, 2016 provides a WINiing plan for family and multigenerational fun. The schedule includes everything from art exhibits to nature walks, world-class musical concerts to scavenger hunts and ice cream socials. Norfolk is home to the Yale Summer School of Music, the summer Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Infinity Hall. Kids will enjoy the boy scouts' camping demonstration, the girl scouts' watermelon-eating contest, and patting the goats at Lost Ruby Farm. A three-day exhibition by Norfolk Artists and friends, an extensive painting and poetry exhibition. You can make an appointment to get married or renew vows on the Viilage Green. The town's first selectman will officiate. Local gardeners will donate bouquets for each couple. Stained glass window tours, artisan demonstrations, canoe building demonstrations. A Farmers Market on Saturday, an ice cream social on Sunday and special deals at the town's restaurants and cafes through out the weekend will be offered.

Southbury Insects and Their Amazing Stories Presentation

The Southbury Garden Club will present a program called "Insects and Their Amazing Stories" by noted children's author John Himmelman on Friday, August 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Southbury Public Library. This presentation will give us some insight into the remarkable adaptations these creatures have developed in order to survive. Hear the stories of dragonflies and bumblebees; ladybugs and dung beetles. Learn the difference between a bee and a wasp - who has the worst sting? ... and much more. John Himmelman is an author/illustrator of over 80 books for children and books for grown up kids on various nature topics. He is a naturalist, involved in many organizations where he gives lectures and leads trips in search of exciting flora and fauna.
