On Wednesday, December 5th a very special event “Light up the Commons: Holiday Open House” will take place in the shopping plaza “The Litchfield Commons,” located on route 202 in Litchfield,  known to most as “the plaza with the cobblestone courtyard- off the green.”  Billed as “An evening of Gourmet, Glitz, & Glam,” the event invites guests to follow the luminarias and help kick off their 6th annual toy drive to benefit The Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.  One unwrapped toy per person is asked as an admission fee per guest.  Much like a progressive dinner party people will move from one location to another, starting at 5pm, to experience different “happenings” taking place at each business in the plaza.  Some of the scheduled happenings include: a holiday cocktail demo lead by a professional mixologist (taking place at The Saltwater Grille), a wine tasting featuring the season’s hottest wine picks lead by The Litchfield Hills Wine Market, DPZ North Hair Salon will teach people “How to go totally Glam for the Holidays” offering complimentary makeup and hair styles, and Vintage Twist Antiques will lead a short seminar on setting the Holiday Table.
