The Danbury Music Centre Celebrates its 75th Anniversary

On Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 3:00pm, the Danbury Music Centre will present its 75th anniversary concert at Ives Concert Hall at Western Connecticut State University, 181 White Street, on the mid-town campus. The Danbury Concert Chorus and Danbury Symphony Orchestra will perform Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus from “Messiah.”  Directing the combined group is Richard Price, Music Director Emeritus of the Danbury Concert Chorus. The public is invited to attend this free concert with donations at the door welcomed.  The Meserve Memorial Foundation has provided major funding for this concert, with additional funding from Jacqueline J. and Emil J. Fusek; also, the Dickson Family.

Walden Chamber Players to perform at Edmond Town Hall - Newtown

On Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 3PM at Edmond Town Hall, Newton the Walden Chamber Players will return to Newtown for a concert.  An informal reception will follow the concert.  Tickets are $20 and will be available at the box office one hour before the concert.  Students in grades K through 12 are admitted free when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.  Parking is free behind Edmond Town Hall.  The Boston based Walden Chamber Players comprises 12 artists in various combinations of string, piano and wind ensembles.  Members are talented chamber artists and soloists who often perform at festivals throughout the United State and abroad. The February 13th Valdentine's Day program will feature five of the Walden Chambers Players.  Advance reservations are recommended.  Call for further information.

On Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 3PM at Edmond Town Hall the Walden Chamber Players will perform a concert. What happens when you have some strings and a piano and a contra bass?  Does it make you think of Schubert's Trout Quintet? Catlin Woods and Marsh is an interesting complex of old growth coniferous forest, patches of younger mixed hardwood/coniferous trees, herbaceous and shrubby marsh, and the Bantam River. The area may feature some 20 species of winter birds and tracks of a half dozen mammals. The terrain here is relatively flat and the trails are in excellent condition, so this should be an easy walk for most people. If enough snow is present, bring your cross country skis or snowshoes. 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Meet in the Museum. Members: $3.00, Non-members: $5.00. Pre-payment and pre-registration are required.
