4 pm. Kirby explores a variety of industries found in Sharon, Connecticut from its 1739 settlement into the early twentieth century. Kirby's book "Industrial Sharon" provides an interesting analysis of the role and interplay of iron, wood, cotton, wool and water. Originally unencumbered by political borders Kirby thus takes us to nearby Lime Rock, Amesville, Wassaic, Cornwall, Canaan, Kent and other locations to explore these town's association with the iron and charcoal industries. Additionally he discusses stories of well-known industrialists who lived in Sharon but performed their activities in other parts of the nation.

For the fifth year in a row, the Youth Group will be sending a team of teen youth and adult volunteers to help paint homes, build ramps and serve the underprivileged on a Mission Trip through GROUP Work Camps. This year, they will serve on a week long trip to Woonsocket, RI this July. As part of their fundraising efforts, they will be hosting a Dinner Dance at the Painted Pony Restaurant on Saturday, February 11th at 6:00pm. A buffet dinner will be offered, as well as live music featuring ROOT SIX. Several door prizes will be available to our guests as well. It has proven to be an entertaining night out, and it's a wonderful opportunity to take your sweetheart out just before Valentine's Day.
