On March 7, 2015 at 4:00PM at the Scoville Memorial Library a program: Jini Jones Vail, Author, Rochambeau and His March Across Connecticut. Presented by the Salisbury Historical Society Association and Scoville Memorial Library. Watertown, Connecticut author Jini Jones Vail will speak about the subject of her recently published book, "Rochambeau, Washington's Ideal Lieutenant, A French General's Role in the American Revolution". Vail will tell about the meetings with Washington and the trek through Connecticut that marked the beginnings of the advance to the decisive battle at Yorktown, Virginia in 1781. Rochambeau was a decorated general in one of the most powerful and hierarchical armies of the world. That Rochambeau was able to cooperate with and sometimes defer to an "amateur" like Washington was a blessing for the revolutionary cause.

Country Bistro's Holly Hunter Stonehill and Jacqueline Heriteau, author of "A Feast of Soups", show and tell the equipment, basic ingredients and secret to success with just about every soup ever made. Soups and "Stewps", thick stewy soups, are hot, hearty and comforting dishes you can made using produce from local growers and markets, even in the dead of winter once you understand the simple basics. They detail ethnic accents and how to achieve them....French, Italian, North African, Indian, Far Eastern and planning a soup-centered meal. Stonehill and Heriteau discuss Bistro's three most popular soups, how they happened, and how to make them.

Educators are invited to work alongside Stiler, whose exhibition will open in May as part of the Circumstance series, to create plaster sculptures and reliefs.
