On Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Torrington Historical Society the History Bite Series continues with a presentation featuring Coe Memorial Park: The Legacy of Lyman and Eliza Coe and Torrington's First Municipal Park.  Speaker:  Mark McEachern, Executive Director of the Torrington Historical Society where the lecture will take place in their Carriage House.  For over 100 years, Coe Memorial Park has occupied an important location in Downtown Torrington.  Discover the history of this parcel of land that was once the home of prominent industrialist Lyman Coe and his family.  The lunchtime lectures are free and open to the public.  Bring lunch.  Beverages and desserts are provided.  Reservations requested, but not required.

Gunn Memorial Library presents a live performance with Instrumental Guitarist, Peter Biedermann--Live Performance with Instrumental Guitarist Peter Biedermann in the Wykeham Room.  Thursday, April 11, 2013 @ 6:30pm. Instrumental guitarist, Peter Biedermann has been composing and performing for over 35 years and will be appearing for the first time at the Gunn Memorial Library in Washington, CT. While Peter's music covers a number of genres in various disciplines, the sounds you will hear will be entirely original. The music will be performed on a variety of 6, 8 & 12 string guitars in unique tunings combined with ambient electronics. The architecture of the music is melodic and rhythmic; combining compositional structure and improvisation that embrace the influences of the last 50+ years of finger style guitar playing by such visionary artists as Davey Graham, John Martyn, Alex de Grassi, Leo Kottke, Ralph Towner and Michael Hedges. Get your saddles ready.  Adoption month is here! April is one of the most important months for H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut. This is a time when you can make a difference in the life of a horse. We currently have over 20 horses up for adoption. There will be a H.O.R.S.E. Showing on Saturday, April 13 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. where you can see our horses in hand and under saddle.
