NewArts: Newtown Musicals presents Disney's The Lion King, Jr. Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Rd., Newtown, CT. Thursday, August 6 - 7pm. The African savannah comes to life on stage in Disney's The Lion King, Jr, with Simba, Rafiki, Nala, Pumbaa, Timon and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring coming-of-age tale. The production is based on a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, with music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice. The cast will include 120 Newtown children between the ages of 5 and 13.
