Our Fall Foliage Festival is a terrific opportunity to sell your wares, showcase your business or promote your organization.   This year, an expanded Main Street Stage will offer music as well as other entertainment. It's just good, old-fashioned, family fun. Join the festivities on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 3p.m.Admission is free. The north side of Main Street will be closed to traffic to provide ample room for vendor displays and meandering visitors.  Again this year we will have the Festival Apple Pie Bake-Off inaugurated in 2010. Show off your baking talents with a chance to turn the $10 entry fee into a $50 first prize. Entries should be dropped off at the Friends of Main Street Festival Booth between 8:30 and 9:30 on the morning of the Festival. Class dates will be Saturday, October 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2015, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. This Senior Computer class will be for beginners who need basic skills on how to use a computer. Fun outdoor activities for the entire family!   Exhibits, walks, demonstrations, and a special photo exhibit: "Wild About Africa", featuring work of Bristol Native: Deborah Yarde. Proceeds from the Wilderness and Wellness Field Day benefit the Estela Wilderness Education Fund at the Main Street Foundation which supports the Environmental Learning Centers of CT, Inc.

The event runs from 10am to 3pm and the $5 per person cost of admission allows unlimited access to any and all the feature presentations. Food will be available for purchase on site. The event is a fundraiser for the Estela Wilderness Education Endowment Fund through the Main Street Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization intended to send area youth to summer camp programs at the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut. Owned by the Kent Land Trust, the 'East Kent Hamlet Preserve' is on the site of Kent's earliest industrial endeavors. Remnants of an iron forge, several mills, and a dam are still visible. Led by Marge Smith, from the Kent Historical Society, we'll walk forest trails and learn about the significance of these sites in the development of northwest CT over the centuries. 5th Annual Housatonic Youth Service Bureau-Hotchkiss Bearcat 5K Run-- Salisbury

On October 4, 2015 the Fifth Annual Housatonic Youth Service Bureau-Hotchkiss Bearcat 5K will be held on Hotchkiss School's grass cross country course.  Registration will be at 8:30AM and the free kids' fun run at 9:30AM.  The 1K which is $5 will start at 9:40AM and the 5K which is $25 begins at 10AM.  Both are chip-timed races.  The cost includes a T-shirt and barbecue lunch.  Check the website for further information.
