The Warner Theatre's Metropolitan Opera Live in HD Series continues with Bizet's LES PÊCHEURS DE PERLES in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre at 12:55 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Bizet's gorgeous opera of lust and longing set in the Far East returns to the Met stage for the first time in 100 years. Soprano Diana Damrau stars as Leïla, the beautiful Hindu priestess pursued by rival pearl divers competing for her hand. The White Hart Speaker Series in collaboration with the Scoville Memorial Library will feature a book-launch event on January 16, 2016 at 4PM a the White Hart Inn.  Author Helen Ross will talk about her book, What Was Mine, a heart-rending yet unsentimental tale of a woman who kidnaps a baby in a superstore and gets away with it for 21 years.  Open to the public.

The Sharon Historical Society & Museum announces the opening on January 16 in The Gallery @the SHS of a solo exhibition of photographs by Sharon photographer and videographer Jonathan Doster, titled "Impressions of China – The Land, People and Culture." The exhibit features images from a six week, 25 city tour in 2014 and runs from January 16 through March 4. An opening wine and hors d'oeuvres reception to which the public is invited free of charge will be held on Saturday, January 16 from 5:00 to 7:00PM. A portion of all purchases support the Sharon Historical Society & Museum's mission.
