The Great Backyard Bird Count is a free, fun event held in February each year. This is the 14th year for the GBBC. Anyone of any age or skill level can participate by counting birds and entering their tallies online. When you take part in the count, you'll automatically be entered in drawings for bird feeders, binoculars, books, and many other items donated by sponsors.

An opening artists reception will be held on February 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Silo Gallery  Wines from Hopkins Vineyard and light appetizers by Chef Mary Kravec, Silo Cooking School Director, will be served. Spend the day outside following the tracks and sign of some of White Memorial's most quintessential mammal species as they move through the forest and wetlands. By learning the language of track and sign each participant gains insight into the animal's world. This will be a long day in the cold so wear lots of layers, good boots and bring water, snack and lunch.Deneen and Andy are primitive skills instructors each with diverse backgrounds in the natural world.
